Dr. Florian Graz is a postdoctoral researcher in the SNSF-funded project “Ageing and Old Age in the 4th–6th Century Roman Empire: Religious, Legal, Social, and Physical Dimensions” (RomAge). He is an Egyptologist/Coptologist and Historian focusing in particular on Greco-Roman and Late Antique Egypt. He has previously (2021–2025) worked as doctoral student at the University of Oslo, in the ERC-funded project “Storyworlds in Transition: Coptic Apocrypha in Changing Contexts in the Byzantine and Early Islamic Periods” (APOCRYPHA). His dissertation, “‘I Found a Little Book Which the Apostles Had Written.’ Frame Narratives in Coptic Apocrypha” (2025) was awarded with His Majesty the King’s Gold Medal and the first Schneemelcher-Preis. After his doctorate, Florian Graz held a short-term stipend (2025–2026) as a junior research fellow at the University of Regensburg, in the DFG-Kolleg-Forschungsgruppe “Beyond Canon_: Heterotopien religiöser Autorität im spätantiken Christentum” (FOR 2770).
